Hubsan X4 (H107L) Review

Many individuals are starting to take an interest in the world of RC devices and if you’re a beginner, you may get lost in this world, because there are so many different objects currently on the market. If you are looking for a quality quadcopter then doing the right research is imperative. I recently discovered the Hubsan X4 and I would like to share my findings with you.

Description of the Hubsan

The Hubsan X4 (H107L) 4 channel 2.4GHz RC Quadcopter is a great model for a beginner quad hobbyist. It’s powered by a high capacity LiPo battery with a durable 1 piece main frame. The palm sized nature makes it a great practice quad, and it’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor flights. Its expert mode also makes it a great addition to a seasoned professional’s collection.

Features and Benefits

The Hubsan X4 RC quadcopter features a durable 1 piece mainframe with a precision 6 axis gyro that is adjustable for added stability. It offers two flight modes, beginner and expert. The beginner mode restricts some of the advanced flying controls to reduce the risk of crashing, making it a great device for beginners, in my opinion.

It’s a lightweight model with 10 minutes of flight time at full charge. Full charge takes 50 – 60 minutes to achieve.

It comes with a stunt mode enabling the user to perform 3D stunts and Rolls.

It also comes with an auto-stabilization and hover consistency feature.

4 powerful coreless motors energize this product.

It has a control distance of 30m

It comes with a ready to fly feature making it appropriate for use straight out of the box.

Pros and Cons

As with any product there are pros and cons to the Hubsan X4. The auto-stabilization feature is a great addition that makes it easy to fly this quad in light wind, and the addition of LED lights on the front and back of the product (Blue at the front, white at the back) enable use in dim conditions. This product is perfect for beginners, however the expert setting and the stunt mode make it a great product for experienced flyers as well. Also, the ready to fly feature takes away the annoyance of having to calibrate the product every time it’s used. However, the wings are made of quite flimsy plastic and are susceptible to breakage after a few crashes. The product doesn’t include replacement propellers in the package which is not great for beginners as some damage to the propellers is to be expected when learning. It also tends to emit a very high pitched noise which is annoying when using outside. As well as, the motors do tend to overheat, although replacement parts are easily found they are not easily replaced as the new motor will need soldering.

Conclusion

The Hubsan X4 is one of the smallest quadcopters on the market to get into the leisure activity and its beginner setting and precision 6 axis gyro make it a great choice for a beginner. The controls are relatively easy to use and ready to fly feature makes it useable straight out the box. However it can still be a fun product for experienced flyers, as the expert setting and stunt mode can provide an extra challenge. I would definitely recommend this product to any beginner quadcopter flyers who are looking for a fun learning experience.

So, what are you waiting for? Aren’t you ready to take flight today?
